K2K hit Georgia

By on September 11, 2014

As far as welcomes go, you couldn’t ask more than the welcoming party K2K received in Tbilisi.

The team are being hosted for two days by the British Embassy in Georgia.

Chris has been talking to injured Georgian troops who are training and preparing for Prince Harry’s inaugural Invictus Games, taking place in London later this year.  Domenic and Laurence were with him to meet the servicemen and find out more about their training.

The mood was high and was covered by lots of local press in Tbilisi and the news.

Invictus Games are something that K2k, Shorsec Racing and Mission Motorsport are championing.  Over 400 competitors from 14 nations will take part in the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick Servicemen and women. Teams will come from the armed forces of nations that have served alongside each other.

Invictus comes from a poem, written by William Ernest Henley.  It is a beautiful poem about facing adversity and conquering your fears.  Standing with your head held high no matter what life throws at you.  Never give in.  For those who don’t know it, here you go.

“Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul”
