Fundraising and Support for K2K

By on September 11, 2014

It’s been an amazing few months here at K2K headquarters. We have been busy gearing up for the big trip, the vehicles are ready and we’ve had tremendous support from both the expat and military community alike in Kabul.

Last week the British Embassy hosted the Shorsec Racing K2K Team for a charity auction event. We went in hoping to raise a few thousand and generate some buzz about Mission Motorsport and the trip. Our expectations were blown out of the water. By the end of the night we had raised $12,000 and had dozens of people signing the bike and truck with messages of support. The British Embassy then donated a further $2,000 to the cause taking our total to an extraordinary $14,000.

From that high we went to another, we participated in a fundraising night at ISAF military headquarters where British troops raised $1,500 for us. A few days later we went to meet 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards based at Camp Souter for a BBQ and a presentation of the money they had raised. Interacting with serving soldiers, many of whom had colleagues and friends recovering from injuries was inspiring.

AMS/No Lemon have been as fantastic as always. They have done a phenomenal job finishing up the vehicles in preparation for our trip and they’re just as excited as we are to see everything get under way.

We’ll keep you updated as we continue in our efforts to prepare. In the meantime, have a great Easter weekend with your loved ones, save some chocolate for us!
